Philanthropy
Our chapter dues and member donations are used for various philanthropic activities including the following.
The Tri Delta Foundation fulfills Tri Delta’s Purpose of “assisting its members in every possible way.”
By raising and awarding funds to provide undergraduate and graduate scholarships (applications available on November 1 and are due the following March 1 of every year), help members in dire financial need, and support the Fraternity’s innovative educational programs, the Foundation helps women live, learn and lead…with Purpose, for a lifetime. |

The Long Beach Ronald McDonald House is a "home away from home” for families with critically-ill children. They provide a place to stay, a source of comfort and care, and a chance to focus all of their energies on the one thing that matters most of all: their child. Through gifts of time, talent and financial support, they are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, for the families of children facing critical, often life-threatening, illnesses.

Each January, the South Bay Alumnae Chapter participates in Delta Love Day established by the Southern California Alumnae Council of Delta Delta Delta which encourages alumnae and collegiate chapters to support a local Ronald McDonald House. This activity correlates to our national Children's Cancer Charities philanthropy by supporting families whose children have cancer or other serious illnesses.
We support our closest House which is in Long Beach by purchasing and donating items from their pantry wish list including non-perishable food items, snacks, plates, etc. |
The Children's Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases at Children's Hospital Los Angeles is one of the largest and most influential members of the Children’s Oncology Group, a cooperative of 237 of the country’s most prestigious pediatric research centers. |
Benefiting Hematology / Oncology Research
Tri Deltas first began donating to Children's Hospital Los Angeles in 1947. In 1951, funds were dedicated to hematology research - these would be the first funds available for this important research, and allowed the department to remain open. Today, hematology and oncology research at Children's Hospital Los Angeles is recognized worldwide. Tri Deltas are proud to have made this program possible. Based on the success of this philanthropic effort, at the 1974 Tri Delta National Convention, it was decided that the national philanthropy would be Children's Cancer Charities. Several members of South Bay Alumnae have been Sleighbell Presidents and Board Members. |
Jean Hunt Gaines Leadership Scholarship by SCAC
